Jackson Guitars are stoked to serve up the Pro Series Signature Josh Smith Soloist SL7 ET: a deeply impressive seven-string electric guitar graced with a long 27-inch scale length and the brand's innovative EverTune F7 bridge. Known as the founder, co-songwriter and rhythm guitarist of Australian metal-core band, Northlane, Smith knew exactly what he wanted out of 'his' Soloist SL7, which is the option to drop it into extra low tunings. As such, the low B-string feels nice-and-tight and all of the strings can be accurately intonated with ease. Not only that, the fitted EverTune F7 bridge keeps tabs on the tuning stability and Jackson include a Foam Core Case to make sure you've got absolutely nothing to worry about on your way to gigs or rehearsals.
The Pro Series Signature Josh Smith Soloist SL7: Bare Knuckle Pickups
The alder solid-body of the Soloist SL7 ET is home to pair of Smith's signature Bare Knuckle Impulse pickups, where the humbucker at the bridge throws down a big-yet-tight sound that's cut out for lower tunings. That being said, medium-gain rock is no problem for these pickups either, and since the high degree of playing comfort stems from a neck-through-body construction, a compound ebony fretboard and 24 jumbo frets, you're all set to take this 7-string axe to the stage.

Après une semaine d'utilisation intensive en studio, voici mon avis sur la guitare Jackson Josh Smith :
• Points forts •
✓ Esthétique : La guitare a une superbe couleur bleu aquamarine (code hexadécimal 71D9E2) et une configuration 7 cordes BEADGBE.
✓ Mécaniques et accordage : Les mécaniques à blocage sont bien et l'EverTune permet un accordage précis au cent près, un gain de temps et de qualité de rendu considérable dans mon studio.
✓ Micros : Les micros Bare Knuckle offrent un son détaillé et précis, avec une compression naturelle (?) qui rajoute de l'attaque comme un gros "snap". Ils surpassent les Fishman Fluence Modern en termes de définition et d'absence de fréquences dérangeantes (Autour de 250Hz sur les fishman). Les slap sonnent facilement et la position centrale offre un twang sympa. Les deux boutons de volume permettent un contrôle précis du mixage des micros.
✓ Jouabilité : Le manche fin et agréable rappelle celui des guitares Schecter, il est non vernis donc aucun soucis pour se déplacer sur le manche.
✓ Son amplifié : La guitare réagit parfaitement aux amplis et c'est très facile de faire un tone de qualité.
✓Étui : Un étui rectangulaire en mousse et une sangle sont inclus.
✓ Autre : Très peu de bruit de fond, bonne isolation aux interferences electro-magnétique
• Points à améliorer •
✘ Réglage de l'EverTune : Le système EverTune nécessite un réglage minutieux, voire un démontage complet pour débloquer certains mécanismes (5 heures dans mon cas), je conseil d'aller sur le forum Reddit Evertune si vous avez une question, car Evertune ne semble pas répondre pas aux email.
✘ Finitions : Des imperfections sont à noter : griffures sur le manche, traces de colle sur la touche et éclaboussures (un problème récurrent sur ce modèle, apparemment). L'absence de mousse ou d'absorbant sur les ressorts de l'EverTune pourrait engendrer des résonances (Pas de soucis pour l'instant en studio).
✘ Tarif : Le prix élevé (1679€) ne semble pas justifié au regard des soucis de finition, d'autant plus que la guitare était initialement proposée à 2500€.
A part les finitions qui, pour le prix, sont un peu abusé. La guitare est juste parfaite pour le studio.
